You read that right…The Livstyle is getting married! I may or may not have been dreaming of planning a wedding ever since I was a little girl, so I can’t believe this day is finally here.Â
On November 17, 2019, exactly 2.5 years from our second date, CJ asked me to marry him and I said Yes WEI (for those of ya’ll that don’t know, his last name and my future last name is Wei ;))! It was the best day EVER, and I’m so excited to share with y’all the entire story…
My friends and I have been doing Friendsgiving every year. This year, my bestie Sana (who recently got married in April), decided to host it at her apartment and cater all this delish food through Whole Foods. Over the past month, she’s showed me cutesy Friendsgiving decor that she’s bought, talked over and over again about how excited she was to host Friendsgiving as a wifey, and requested for me and my friends to come dressed up to match this is gorgeous black Christmas tree she just bought. I told her I’d wear a cute black sweater dress (from Lulu’s!) with since it’s been pretty chilly lately, but I’m not dressing up any more than that!
Fast forward to Nov 17th, it was like any other day. I reminded CJ we had Friendsgiving at Sana’s place at 4pm, and that she wanted us to dress a little nice so we could get some photos together. As soon as we arrived, Sana’s husband, Imran, asked CJ help him pick up the food from Whole Foods. Sana and Imran’s apt was decked out with Friendsgiving decor, cute bowls were set out, and the bar cart was stocked. My other girl friends started to arrive. While the boys were out, Sana and my friends Nisha and Sameena started snapping some photos together. They complained the lighting looked a little weird, to which I agreed, so they suggested we take some pics on Sana’s rooftop. I was like, ehhh it’s cold up there, but we can just take them quickly (nothing I haven’t done before while taking blog photos in the winter).
As soon as I swung open the rooftop door, I noticed a photographer crouched down taking photos. I wasn’t exactly sure what he was taking photos of (the rooftop door??) but started backing up to get out of his shot. Sana started pushing me forward and I realized…wait, that’s MY photographer, who has been taking my blog photos for years! No idea how I didn’t recognize him immediately, but when you don’t expect someone to be somewhere – somehow that happened LOL. I started walking forward and saw the cutest gold heart balloons, rose petals all over the floor, tea lights in the shape of a heart, and light up letters on a table that spelled out ‘MARRY ME’. That’s when I realized what was happening! CJ emerged from the corner where he was hiding and led me to a spot with a view right in front of the ESB and dropped down on one knee. It truly was the happiest moment (and the most surprising moment!) of my entire life! Everything was perfect.Â
After taking a ton of photos, CJ told me the next surprise is that we were going to have a photoshoot at Grand Central Station! YAY – totally up my alley. We start to head over in a taxi when the driver announces we’re going somewhere else. Sana quickly blindfolds me since the driver ruined the surprise location (LOL). I ask if we can call my parents and who all of my friends know this was happening, and they told me no one knows yet / we can call them tonight. We arrive at the location and CJ leads me blindfolded into an unknown location. After pulling the blindfold off, I see that we’re in the bar where CJ & I’s first date was. I see my mom, dad, sister, little nephew, Talon (my best friend from high school) – who ALL flew in from Texas! Plus, a lot of our sweet New York friends! I started crying tears of happiness from feeling so much love, and we celebrated the night away together.Â
I’m SO thankful for my amazing fiancé who gave me everything I could have ever wanted, my amazing family and friends who put in so much effort to make this day perfect for me, and everyone who sent me congratulatory words. I truly feel like the luckiest girl in the entire world. And if you’ve made it this far on reading this blog post, thank you for following along!!
