Some of the best kinds of dresses? Slip dresses. I loveee how this is a thing! For some reason, what flashes into my head every time I see/wear a slip dress is Jennifer Garner in 13 Going on 30 wearing that silky chemise to her office and rocking it. Anyways, I think slip dresses are super stylish and I totally dig the sultry vibes they give off!
I was super excited when Two Feathers wanted to partner for their newest collection. P.S. Check out my other recent blog post where I styled another Two Feathers dress – literally can’t rave enough about this super chic, minimalistic brand that’s all about modern style. They have the most gorgeous pieces, y’all! As soon as I saw their ‘Teresa Slip Dress‘ – I knew I HAD to style it for the collaboration. I love that it’s a plain blueish/gray color – because it’s SO simple to style in so many different ways (as are any other neutral-like colors!). I thought it’d be perfect to write about how to style a slip dress since they are becoming so popular lately + I’m obsessed with this one that I just added to my closet! Three major things to consider when styling a slip dress…
Casual or Dressy look?
One of the first things to think about is obviously the occasion of where you’ll be rocking your slip dress and how casual or dressy you want your look to be. This slip dress is completely versatile…it’s literally perfect for nighttime wear (i.e. an elegant event) OR a more casual day outing (i.e. brunch with the gals).
Additional clothing items + Accessories
Next, it’s all about figuring what to add to your outfit…OR not add! If you’re trying to sport a casual look, I would add a cute little denim jacket like I did . Other casual outfit accessory ideas are a belt, hat, choker or cardigan. To go for that dressy look, I would hold off on adding any clothing items and really focus on your jewelry – maybe moreso rhinestone/bling focused – dainty pieces or statement necklaces. Your bag also plays a key part here – perhaps a bold /chained purse to finish out the look.
Shoes, shoes, shoes!
It’s all about the height of your shoes! Most slip dresses are midi or floor length. If you’re taller, flats or sandals wouldbe perfect for rocking the casual. If you’re shorter, I would go with strappy sandals that have a bit of a heel. On the other hand – if you’re trying to achieve that fancy schmancy style, high heels are a MUST. I love these that I wore – they really know how to make a girl feel classy. And I mean, look at the sexy slit in this dress…it looks amazing to show off with a pair of heels! 😉
