Hello hello! It’s officially October – how does time fly by so fast?! It’s been almost a month since NYFW ended, and I apologize for getting this recap up so late y’all…September was seriously sooo crazy busy for me! I actually had a work trip that overlapped with half of NYFW, so unfortunately I wasn’t able to attend as many shows as I usually do. I will say NYFW is always a super busy (but super fun/exciting!) time of the year (see previous NYFW post here & here), so it was definitely nice to be a little more chill this season. I always enjoy and feel so lucky getting to witness the incredibly talented work of the best of the best designers in the industry. Take a look into the shows I went to this season:
Indonesian Diversity Show
PC Credit: Fashion Maniac
I hate to play favorites, but I have to say this show was my fave this season! It did have a little bit of an unfair advantage being my favorite because it consisted of 5 different designers, all in one show: Barli Asmara, Catherine Njoo, Dian Pelangi, Doris Dorothea, Melia Wijaya, and Vivi Zubedi. All of the pieces in every collection were so beautiful and unique; I also just personally have a soft spot for seeing diversity within the fashion space. The collections highlighted the exquisite beauty of the Indonesian culture – full of gorgeous fabrics, luxurious materials, and detailed embroidery. See a video of the runway show here.
Galtiscopio

This was actually Galtiscopio’s first NYFW and it definitely did not disappoint. It started out with a rap music performance by Ray J to get the crowd pumped. The sparkly, feminine collection was stunning – full of sexy cutouts on flowing dresses, crystals with sheer detailing, and metallic tones. Several bold hues took over the runway with deep colors of blue, purple and red. I loved the blingin’ accessories that some models rocked – crystal headphones…I mean, what could get better than that?! The designer also gifted all its’ attendees with gorgeous rings – so sweet! See a video of the runway show here.
Vaishali
Vaishali’s luxury label consisted of neutral based tones, with inspiration from elements of India. The collection was full of absolutely stunning drapery, fabrics, stitching and embroidery – I loved the chiffon material and detailed embellishments. The show started out with a ton of blacks and golds/nudes, and slowly made its way to brighter colors. Loved how the traditions of the Indian culture truly radiated through her pieces full of modern flair. See a video of the runway show here.
Cindy Monteiro
Can you say…LOVE?! Cindy’s collection had some of the most unique pieces I’ve ever seen. The clothes were all created from raw, natural materials and gave off island-like/greek goddess vibes. Jumpsuits, dresses, shorts, two piece sets (which were my FAVE!) + more…the fabrics highlighted were burlap and linen – adored the black, white and nude color palette. See a video of the runway show here.
Runa Ray
The theme of Runa Ray’s collection this season was ‘Save the Planet.’ The show started out with an announcement about the organic creation of the pieces using plants, dyes, and hand embroidery (LOVE that!). The beautiful clothing in this line was just dreamy – relaxed fits & flowy pieces filled the runway. I was totally digging all of the foresty/botanical feels that the collection gave off. The pieces consisted of silky fabrics with leaves and floral prints -Â I’d describe this collection as Mother Nature at it’s best ๐ See a video of the runway show here.
