“Eyes are the mirror of the soul.” Haha okay okay, I know that’s a bit of a cheesy quote – but seriously, we all know that one of the first features everyone is drawn to are our eyes! As an Asian girl, one of the features I unfortunately did not get blessed with was long eyelashes. Growing up (and even still today), I’ve always struggled with being self conscious of my short, straight lashes. I’ve envied every girl that could just put on one coat of mascara and be done with a full, voluminous dramatic look. I remember becoming a pro at gluing fake eyelashes on because I had to all the time when I would perform on my high school dance team. While I do love glue-on eyelashes, the day I discovered eyelash extensions became a game changer.
I’ve been getting eyelash extensions for YEARS now. There are so many rumors and hesitations to get them in fear of them damaging your real eyelashes, but I can definitely say that’s not true! I do like to give my real eyelashes a break every now and then (just to let them breathe), but I’ve been getting them forever and have never seen a negative impact on my natural ones. Living in New York, there are a ton of salons that provide eyelash extension services. It’s a little nervewracking to try somewhere new, but I’ve finally found the perfect place and I wanted to share my experience with y’all. The Lash Loft is a high quality lash & wax salon that offers a length and look for every eye type. The technicians and front desk greeters are the sweetest, and the salon is so clean and decorated so cute. My technician made sure that I was comfy at all times throughout the process, and made sure I was satisfied with the end result. I’ve gone to a ton of eyelash extension places in NYC, and this was my fave by far!! I’ve gotten a ton of compliments on my eyelash extensions from The Lash Loft. I mean, seriously how gorgeous did mine turn out?! *Insert heart eye emoji here*
Below are some tips for eyelash extensions:
- Be prepared for 1.5 hours to get them done – it takes patience, but you can take a little nap 🙂
- Don’t shower or wet your eyelashes for 24 hours after getting them done.
- Avoid touching your eyelashes as much as possible. The longer you take good care of them, the longer they will last.
- I’d advise not to put mascara on top of them. It’s really unnecessary and will cause them to dry out, clump together, and fall out faster.
- The investment is worth it! I love waking up in the morning and not having to worry about putting on mascara + wearing minimal makeup. It’s amazing.
My eyelash extensions details: Curl: C; Type: Full Volume; Length: 12, but check out full options here. The Lash Loft also offers other services like microblading, lash lifts, brow tints, body waxes + more.
