Cheers babes, and happy 2019! I always love the month of January – it’s a fresh start for us all. 2018 may have been rough for some, and amazing for others, but regardless – it’s great that we can all look forward to what 2019 has to bring!
As for me, 2018 was pretty great. Every year has its ups and downs, but overall I can’t complain about this one. As I reflect back on it, there were a couple of notable events that stood out –
- I traveled a ton. Arizona, LA, San Diego, Boston, Mexico City, Vegas, MAUI…and made some pretty great memories along the way.
- I hit 10K followers on my IG. This was a big milestone for me, and a goal that I have been pursuing for some time now. I couldn’t be more thankful or appreciative for all my followers – soooo much love for you all!
- I started a new job. After 2.5 years working in the beauty industry, about a month ago I was lucky enough to land an exciting gig at Girlboss! I’m obsessed with the mission and everything the company stands for.
- 4 of my besties got engaged. So happy for my best friends! 2019 is officially the year of me having a job as a bridesmaid – ha!
- Worked with some amazing brands this year. A huge thanks to all the incredible brands who believed in me – I truly enjoyed working with all of you!
- Turned the big 2-7. I’m in my upper 20’s now, and I hope I’m living up to the saying: another year older, another year wiser 😉
- Moved apartments with my bestie. My roomie & I moved to a smaller setup and are still trying to adjust/make the most of it. Living the true New York lifestyle experience nonetheless! 🙂
- …And the not-so-good: Went through a pretty traumatic event in Central Park. At a Global Citizen Festival concert in Central Park, there was (what everyone thought) a shooter scare (luckily it wasn’t real and no one got hurt, but the fear was definitely real). I still have a bit of PTSD when I’m in larger crowds (which is basically all the time in NYC), but I also remind myself that I can’t live like that.
And now for the resolutions! I think it’s best to write down resolutions to hold yourself accountable for the milestones:
- Volunteer more. I want to truly make an effort to give back to the community more this year. Open to any suggestions!
- Eat healthier. This is always on the list, right? It’s difficult because I love sweets so darn much! Well, luckily my bf is a total health nut so I’m thinking it shouldn’t be too hard 🙂
- Make more time for myself. Between work, the blog, hanging out with friends/my bf…I tend to never prioritize having alone time. It’s definitely not a terrible thing (as I love being social), but I do think it’s important to make sure everyone has a little me time every now and then 🙂
- Learn a new language. Surprisingly enough, although I’m of Chinese descent – I can’t speak the language at all! I want to pick up Mandarin and (at least) learn the basics.
- Save, save, save! I have a lot of expenses coming up this year (#yearofthebridesmaid), so I’m making it an effort to save as much as I can, budget smarter and spend more wisely.
- Read more. I love, love love reading! When I’m really busy, I always tend to de-prioritize this hobby, but I really want to make more time for it. P.S. – any great books y’all have read lately, please send any suggestions my way!
- Blog better. The Livstyle always has room to grow! I love blogging so so much, and always want it to get better and better for y’all. Possibly a design revamp this year? It may be due for a refreshed look! Stay tuned 😛
Wishing y’all all the happiness and the best year yet! Cheers to 2019!

Ooh! I want to learn Mandarin too. I’m following mandarin studygrams on instagram for inspiration. Also, you should check out the book The Slight Edge.
