The time has come, y’all. After 4.5 years of living in NYC, it’s time to move on to a new adventure. At the same time – I’m trying to hold back tears of sadness leaving this place I’ve been so lucky to call home, yet so thrilled to start a brand new chapter of my life.
I’ve always been like this. I seek out adventure, I seek out the unknown. I like pushing myself out of my comfort zone every now and then and trying something new, even if that does mean a complete change of lifestyle. I moved to Minneapolis, MN after graduation to pursue a career at Target HQ. I knew no one. I visited the city once before during interviews. But, I learned so much while I lived there – I found some of the bestest friends, fell in love with so many parts of that midwestern city, and overall it was an adventure to say the least.
I then moved to NYC for a new job opp. New York is literally the city I’ve always dreamed about living in. I knew some acquaintances living there, but no best friends or family. I didn’t care – I finally was able to live out my dream and pursue an amazing career at the same time! Fast forward 4.5 years later, and I can’t imagine being anywhere else. I have so many of my best friends here, have my go-to spots, and have formed a true NYC identity.Â
Just because I have LOVED my life living in New York doesn’t mean that this is the only lifestyle I should seek out. If y’all follow me on IG, you may have seen the BIG news that I JUST got engaged this month (post to come soon on that magical day)!! <3 I’ve been with my BF Â – scratch that, FIANCE now 🙂 – for 2.5 years. We’ve made so many special NYC memories here, but he recently got an AMAZING job opportunity in…*drumroll please*…Chicago! We outweighed the pros and cons, but it’s where we’ve chosen to start a new adventure together! And, luckily my company is letting me transition to work as a full time remote work-from-home employee!
I LOVE the city of Chicago – it has that incredible city feel (but not so overwhelming as NYC), super vibrant, and has so many great food options. I’ve only visited a handful of times, but I’m SO excited to explore Chi even more! I will say I’m nervous to go back to those Midwestern winters (brrrr, the Windy City), but it’s worth it for the summers and I know I’ll adjust to it 🙂 Also, I’m so excited for our new apartment – HELLO walk in closets, in unit laundry, rooftop pool + hottub, and huge gym! So many upgrades compared to our small NYC apt 😉
Anywho, I do plan to come back to New York a lot for blog stuff, but I will start covering a lot of Chicago stuff on my channels…so thank y’all for following me on this journey & life update! Always appreciate the amazing support <3
P.S. If you’re a Chicago based brand or blogger, I’d love to chat!
