Man, it’s been a MINUTE since I was tan. I haven’t gotten a spray tan in sooo long, and didn’t get one during COVID. I started trialing some DIY tanning lotions during the pandemic, and it was…not great, lol. When I moved back to NYC, I legit thought of Tan Glam NYC – which is how I used to get my tans when I lived in NYC before.
Tan Glam NYC is a mobile spray tan biz based in New York, obvi. Before I stumbled on them, I didn’t really know much about mobile spray tanning! But after I found out about them, I never went back to a typical spray tan salon. It’s SO convenient – they come directly to your apt, set up a tent (with no mess!), and spray tan you in 15-20 minutes. Even my fiance was shocked by how quickly they came and went, ha! I just love the final results – the tan looks so natural, so great, and super even. I feel like picking a spray tan place is crucial because you need to find someone you TRUST so you don’t turn out orange, LOL.
The Tan Glam technician will help you decide what shade will work best for you. I got medium and was going for a bronzy glow. You can decide to wear or not to wear whatever you’d like during the session. They make you feel totally comfortable throughout the whole process. You’re wearing a hair net and some stick on shoes to mitigate any spray going there.
Some tips on spray tanning:
- Exfoliate a minimum of 24 hours before appt
- Make sure to wax, pluck, etc BEFORE your appt
- Definitely don’t wear any makeup, or have any lotions/deodorant/creams on your body
- Get your nails done BEFORE your appt
- Wear dark clothing after
- Verify with your technician when you should wash off (based on what solution and what kind of tan you chose)
- Moisturize to try to extend your spray tan
NYC gals – highly recommend Tan Glam NYC! The owner is such a boss babe and the sweetest ever.
